East Bengal FC is on the verge of strengthening their squad for the ISL 2025–26 season by signing Spanish-born striker Youssef Ezzejjari. If final negotiations proceed as expected, the deal is likely to be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours. The contract is anticipated to run through the end of the 2025–26 season.
East Bengal recently signed Spanish-born Youssef Ezzejjari to strengthen their squad for the ISL 2025-26 season. If the final negotiation proceeds in favour of EBFC, the inclusion might be officially announced within the next 24-28 hours. The contract is anticipated to run through the end of the 2025–26 season.
An East Bengal insider stated, “East Bengal has identified Youssef Ezzejjari for the 2025–26 season. Terms have already been finalised, and provided everything goes according to plan, the official signing will happen in the next 24–48 hours.”
After Japanese forward Hiroshi Ibusuki’s departure, the Spanish player’s inclusion is the wild card to reconcile EBFC’s frontline.
Ezzejjari, born in Spain with Moroccan heritage, kickstarted his career in the lower Spanish leagues. Later on in his career he moved abroad seeking bigger challenges.
Born in Spain with Moroccan heritage, Ezzejjari began his career in the lower Spanish leagues before moving abroad to seek bigger challenges. He has since built a reputation as a prolific scorer across Asia. His most successful stint was with Persik Kediri, in Indonesia, where he netted 18 goals in 32 matches.
Whereas in Cambodia, the footballer maintained his clinical form at Visakha FC. He netted 10 goals in just 11 appearances.
However, Ezzejjari showed his peak form for Tanjong Pagar United, Singapore, netting 5 goals in 6 matches.
Known for his physical strength as a centre-forward, Ezzejjari is highly regarded for his off-the-ball movement, relentless pressing, and ability to lead the attack as a lone striker.
Needless to say, for East Bengal the Spanish will bring much-needed balance and veteran experience. His presence allows coach Oscar Bruzon to experiment with different formations, whether playing a single striker or a dual-forward system. After East Bengal’s poor form last season, they are moulding a team to succeed this season.
