The East Bengal senior team thrashed the Satosh Trophy winner, the Bengal team. During a closed-door practice match on Tuesday, East Bengal won the match with a crashing 4-0 margin.
The match was a preparatory phase to nurture the players’ physical strength and to reflect on their growing weakness before ISL. East Bengal countered the Santosh Trophy winners with fierce aggression. The opening goal came from David Lalhlansanga during the first half of the match. While the chances were made, the Bengal team was unable to push the ball through the net.
The simultaneous attacks from EBFC continued as the second goal came from Mahesh Singh Naorem in the second half. After a few attacks, the PV Vishnu added another net to EBFC’s score.
However, the last goal came from a tremendous penalty shot as Edmund Lalrindika hurled the ball into the net scoring the final goal for the day.
However, today’s match saw the absence of Anwar Ali in their defense lineup, as he was injured severely and might take a week to recover. As well as the match being commenced without Saúl Crespo, it is speculated that he is suffering through a minor injury.
East Bengal has effectively terminated their contracts with their two foreign strikers, as Hamid’s departure from the elite club has been finalized, and their Japanese striker, Hirosi, has been seen missing from the practice for the past two days. While any official confirmation is yet to be placed, it is speculated that the striker has already shared his final words with the club. Without the foreign strikers, the coach chose David to head the attacking field for today.
